Snorkels
Putting aside all practical applications for a moment ....

I just can't make my mind up about snorkels - and wether I like the look of them or not.

On some I think they look good and on some they don't ...... From some angles I think they look good - and others I don't ?

Some colours seem to suit it, others not ? The amount of other accessories on the truck seem to make a difference too?

Anyone share their aesthetic judgement ?

I don't really like them on a 90 I have one or RAI on my G4 Disco 3. But I will make something on my 90 as I use that one seriously off-road.
Mine sucks the air now high under the wing does the job till now but it's warm air. Roel

If you want to please the purists and the functionalists do not fit a snorkel. Like so many things people put on their Defenders , a snorkel is considered unnecessary on anything less than a fully equipped expedition vehicle.

And are we really going to sink our soon to be rare classics up to the window sills in muddy water.

(Did it only once with my Tdi about ten years ago, but wouldnīt dream of putting my present Landy through the same).

I have a steel tubular one on my 90 and think it looks great. Belongs to the whole "go anywhere" look and feel of the vehicle, and makes such a truck-like sucking sound on acceleration. I wouldnīt want to be without it.....

Fitted by the first owner, it is from Nakatakenga. It feeds through the top of the wing to a K&N filter. The intake for the cabin ventilation is then redirected though the side of the wing. An advantage not needing a snow cover.

I'm not really all that fussed about them one way or the other. I had one on a 200TDi as it was fitted when I bought it, but I've never gone to the trouble of buying and fitting one on any other Land-Rover.

I've thought about it for the dust when driving through the woods on dirt roads, but as it's only really dry and hot enough to get serious dust here for about two weeks of the year it's kind of hard to justify. Laughing Dirty Deeds - Done Dirt Cheap

I think it is a personal choice, like so many things on any Landy, its in the eyes of the owner. I love em, they may be wrong for the engine, performance or for some other reason but I think they look good.

I love this web site and think all the people on it are great and very diplomatic. There are some things that people have done which I don't like or wouldn't do but the owners love it so that's what's important.

Put a snorkel on or don't, what ever you do just enjoy your Landy as I do Smile

Cheers

Tank.

I've given up saving for a snorkel, every time I think its time something else on the Landy thinks it deserves my hard earned cash more. Lol

You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.
