1989 Defender 90 V8 Petrol CSW Alpine White
No headlamp flash
I am rebuilding a 1988 V8 90.

When I bought it the electrics were completely FUBAR having had the looms cut at both ends and various accessories removed with what may have been a chainsaw.... you get the picture.

I have rewired large chunks of it, including a TD5 warning light cluster.
All the lights now work nicely.

...but I have no headlamp flash. I have main beam, the fuse is fine, there is current at the stalk, I have tested a spare stalk, but still no flash. There seems to be a lot of disconnected wires behind the instruments and the wiring diagrams I can find are not that helpful as some of the wire colours are not matching the vehicle.

Help and suggestions gratefully received.... I have posted on the 90/110/130 facebook group also.

Many thanks! V8 90...WIP

Get a power probe and work along the loom from the bulkhead, failing that, I'd take the front wheel arch spats off, disconnect the earths and pull the whole harness out, strip it all back and re do it.
I'm just doing a v8-90 and the front loom is terrible, I'm going to remake the whole front end, from the bulkhead forwards on both sides.

I have already remade the front loom, and as the high beam works fine, I know that the common parts of the wiring are good......according to the wiring diagram I have, ALL the wiring is common though.... so that's that theory out the window.... This is why I don't understand the problem - though it appears I am not alone. V8 90...WIP
