Policy wording question
In my insurance renewal quote, I read the following
No cover is provided for commercial travelling, racing, pacemaking, speed testing, track days, competitions, rallies, off road and 4x4 days, trials or use for any purpose in connection with motor trade.

I assume the references to racing, pacemaking, speed testing, track days, competitions, rallies, off road and 4x4 days, trials
mean, me taking my car and have a blast around a race circuit for an organised track day etc?
As for the rallies, does this relate to me entering the car in an organised rally i.e competing?

What about me being there as part of the organising team, stewarding teametc or being there to tow stranded cars out of the stage?

Part of my motorsport hobby is marshalling at rallies, and providing radio cover along with recovery of broken down cars.

What's the definition of commercial travelling? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I'm sure that means that you can't use it for work.
You can travel to a place of employment and back home but you are not insured to use it for the purpose of your job.
That would be a different policy.

I would also ring them about the off roading bit and ask them to clarify. It sounds like they will only insure you if your diving on the black stuff.
Not the best IMO.

Hope that helps. Thumbs Up

for me its just SDP. The off roading bit I am not too bothered with as I don't do that much. But, if I am on a green lane, which is maintained at public expense, I would need MOT/Insurance/tax etc so that's a public road? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Different insurers will have different conditions for the areas mentioned, I've sent you a PM so I can look into your queries in more detail and I'm sure we can clarify and get the right level of cover for what you want/need.

Curious about this as well.
I also "officiate" at motorsport events, forest rallies and circuit sprints.
As far as I was concerned the motorsport exclusions apply to actually using the vehicle competitively.
My part in the event is purely social/domestic/pleasure as i am not competitive.
I don't use the vehicle for radio or recovery work, as that is a different type of involvement which I would assume would have to be specified in my insurance i only use it as access to and from the stages or dropping off marshalls at their posts.
