The MOT
Ok chaps, you'll laugh it's been years since we took a car for an MOT.

This is what we have checked so far, is there anything else we should be checking?

Windscreen & Wipers (Both Brand New)
Wheels & Tyres - (Brand New)
All Lights - All working including the 3rd Brake Light
Windscreen Washer - All topped up and working
Oil & Diesel - All topped up
Seatbelts - As discussed on the other thread I think they are OK
Mirrors - All OK.
Horn - Working

Will the fact the trailer light always flashes when we indicate be an issue? 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

The trailer flashing light might be an issue if you have a 13pin towing elecric socket as that now falls into a testable item on the MoT. If you have a 7 pin socket, it's not a test item and you can come out with the imortal line "It's never done that before!" and the worst they can do is put an adisory on the paperwork.
It's the little things that when done make the testers life a little easier and help smooth the way such as if you have lap belts like the middle 2nd row seat put the belt in position so the tester hasn't got to hunt for it, same with the third row bench seats in the back if fitted. Take off the suction mounted phone holder and satnav brackets off the windscreen especially if they are in the 'swept' area.
It can be a good plan to just give it a quick blast along a fast road to blow out the cobwebs and get to the testing station at least 10 minutes before your time slot. Giving it a quick blast will make sure that the engine is warm and all parts are moving freely.
In all just take it in your stride, we all become nervous before the test much akin to being called up before the headmaster Laughing
Good luck.

Swivel joints are clear of oil or grease.
Tow bar if fitted is not rusted and plate is clean. ( I got an advisory a couple of years back as I had sprayed over the plate)
No leaks from steering box.

You could have a look here........http://www.motester.co.uk/mot-information-for-motorists/mot-test-checks-list Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

The socket is a 7 pin.

Interestingly the last owner had it looked into at the last service and the dealer reported no fault found. Although I think when I mentioned that last time on here someone pointed out it was possibly because we now had LED lights and it needed a specific relay. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

The trailer light should flash once or twice when you indicate. If it is flashing all the time there may be a problem.

Speaking as an mot tester.
The 7 pin, 12 n socket is subject to a visual inspection only. The new 13 pin is fully tested.

The trailer warning tell tail is NOT part of the test. As long as the indicators work and there respective tell tail lights work, they pass.

If one light influences another lights operation. That`s a fail. I.E. looking for a ground. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.

Well it passed.

Apparently there was a small amount of oil on a wheel bearing and there is a slight leak from the rear doff, but nothing that's dripping onto the ground. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Glad it passed CatherineF

Get the oil leak on the wheel bearing sorted, this means the hub oil seal has failed and when it gets worse (trust me it will!) the oil will contaminate the brake pads which is not good.

Apparently it needs new front pads in about 6K miles too. That would take it to around 45K. 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

Are you a member of the Allegiance scheme? If you are, you can get discount on your servicing costs, and the MOT is normally free with the service. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....
