its not so much the police its the cps not handing out proper sentences , police do the leg work and the cps give out a pathtic sentence

CPS has nothing to do with sentencing which is decided on by the magistrates/judges. CPS decides on prosecution etc.

Now which UK PM spouted on about crime rates falling etc? Now if you have armed police stood outside your house, traveled everywhere with armed police escorts then yes you will have little to fear from General lowlife scumbags.

In a previous life... Some 15 yrs ago we would habitually parade 12+ on a night shift, covering a small rural market town, there then would be a further x3 double crewed area cars which would offer mutual-support if it all kicked off. These would be bolstered by various night turn traffic/dogs & CID staff.
No I've retired, I recently bumped into a ex colleague who informed me that on certain days of the week, after a set time they cover the same area with just three officers & x2 area cars Rolling Eyes this fact is already well known to the local "thieving" community.
Furthermore they have been told that they have to save £23million from next years budget.
Surprisingly enough, he fears that some one/people will have to get seriously hurt before the situation changes, so is looking to change career & he's still only in his early 40's.
G4S & Securitas etc will never be interested in such a rural community role as they'll never be any profit there; so I can only suggest you take whatever steps you need to legally :reinforce: your own security & try not to rely too much on the vagaries of either the judiciary, or indeed the cps; both of which are "guided" by the Home Office to reduce costs Whistle
Happy NYE

In some of the "quieter" rural areas things haven't really changed. Many, many years ago it was common practice for some who nowadays may be called misguided to give the local main police station a call to say there was a prowler in the garden of a house in entirely the opposite direction of where the Young Farmers dance was being held.
In those days there was only one traffic car covering a 30mile radius, one officer on the desk and two patrolling the town and covering the station. This was not done for nefarious purposes more along the lines of not having to be put into difficult situations. The rural community was a lot tighter back then and had a lot more respect for the police, we were the ones that would notice strange goings on, we would often have social visits from the local bobby just popping in for tea and biscuits or the like and gossip would be exchanged along the theme of community policing. The crime rate in the area was low and people looked after each other.

Same happened to me.
As steve the plumber.
I too was transporting my tools around in an estate car, stupidly not covered. I always strap my kit down after the, gas bottle and car radio smashing session. Did`ent make any money that day !!
I was sitting at the lights and I noticed a man looking into the boot. Next thing I know the tail gates open and two guys are going for my snap on top box.
So foot down hard front wheels spinning, and the Vectra`s going down the road with two guys hanging out the back of it.

Glad to say the tailgate came down hard, and they were left in the road. I kept my tools.

But thinking about it the garage does need more locks, or wire it to the mains. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.
