TD5 EGR
Am I thinking right? Please read the rest before saying: NO. Rolling with laughter

As a quick first step before removing the complete EGR system, I was thinking off blocking the vacuum line at the T piece next to the engine with a small plug and some sealent. So the vacuum doesn't reach the actuators.

Am I correct to think that this way the EGR valve doesn't operate and the exhaust gasses don't get in the inlet system? Roel

Sorry Roel, but I don't know the answer to your question but from the following links it appears to be 'common practice' to blank the EGR AND plug up the vacuum pipe.

Roel,

I think the worse that would happen is that you will get an engine management light on....If it was as simple as blocking the pipe with a ball-bearing they wouldn't sell or have any need for the blanks I would have thought!

Disconnect the plug on the vacuum control valve on the right hand wing.

On pre 2002 there will be one control valve, post 2002 there will be two.

I thought if you unplug the (for me 2) it could throw up faults in the ECU. I thought if you don't get vacuum on the control valves the ECU thinks they are still working but they don't. Roel

Didnt throw and codes up for me (been checked on Nanocom many times since its been disconnected). And if it does they only come up once as far as i can tell. If they are disconnected the ECU knows they are not working and fuels accordingly. If you just blank it off the ECU thinks there working and fuels the engine for a working EGR when its not actually working.

On mine i have the EGR valve completely removed and the vacuum pipes removed and the control valves removed.
