Painting body panels (tractor)
Relatively little experience in this area, as part of our tractor restoration (Massey 35), are starting to get to the stage of painting areas before fitting.

Have a basic 24ltr compressor from Aldi that obviously isn't up to the job of a professional outfit but as the metalwork of a tractor was never up to the standards of today's cars I sm hoping this will be fine.

Will this be the case? And can anyone recommend a good enough gun to use? I have the paints, ready for primer and the red top coat. Have the panel wipe too.

And other advice appreciated.

Chris @ CSK LR's does plenty of painting, I'm sure he could advise you.

Hi Steve,

What's the type of paint? Synethic enamel?

To be honest surface preparation is the key.... Smooth as possible and of course a nice warm and workshop this time of year!

The gun is not most important factor just good over lap and a steady hand Wink Working towards Carry on camping!

You can get low pressure spray guns that are better for smaller compressor , and you can still get a good results

90% of good paint finish is in the prep work
