I have my dual battery system running for over 5 years now, consisting of a Cyrix VSR (€50) and a Optima Yellowtop leisure battery (€180). Add some cable, connectors and other small hardware. I am very happy with this setup, and it is not very expensive.
I run a Waeco 40l compressor fridge on the Yellowtop, as wel as additional lights and phone chargers and the like. I also have a solar panel permanent on the roofrack for topping up the leisure battery while camping. Cheers, Vincent

^^^ Indeed, it is best to avoid using an inverter: most laptops and mobile chargers work on 12V (or use a dc-dc converter).
And a fireplace is much more fun than an electric kettle Whistle
