http://www.gosober.org.uk

I can't believe it's only the 8th!! This is going to be the longest month ever for me Confused

I like a drink so will struggle with this but we lost a family friend to cancer a weeks ago so I keep thinking of her for motivation,

Sorry for your loss. I am now a full 8 years dry and I agree that the first few weeks was the hardest part but in surprisingly quick fashion it becomes a habit and something to take a pride in. Good luck and stick with it. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

IP depending on what you drink there can be 'techniques' to help with your 'drinking habits'.

I like a beer and enjoy a long drink and like beer from small local breweries. Erdinger Alkoholfrei is a decent non alcholic 'beer' less then 0.5% alcohol by volume. So I can enjoy a 'beer' without the alcohol.

If you enjoy a glass of red wine try a glass of red grape juice in the same type of glass.

Brendan

PS Am enjoying an Erdinger now Thumbs Up

I had a sober Jan, it ended mid Feb

Just having a small glass now Whistle

It's a great thing to do, if on only to prove you don't 'need' it.

I am doing it for October, also had a month off booze after Christmas. Friday evening is the killer for me, but love getting up on Saturday morning without a headache.

Big respect guys! Bow down

I've never really thought I'd got a "problem" before but I know Friday evening is going to be a tough one when I'm already craving a beer on a Wednesday!!

On 05/01/2015 I will be 30 years free from booze! I will have an occasional glass at, say, a wedding (February 2014) but I just don't like the taste!

I'll confess I used to drink more than should have done, I packed it in when I stated offering people out for no good reason.

Can't handle it, don't do it is now my mantra Very Happy oh two years And I don't miss it at all. Boo hiss vodka Thumbs Up

Has anyone noticed that at the moment Supermarkets are full of booze promotions, to special prices on litre bottles of sprits. Buy two bottles of wine for £5.00 and cases of beer at ridiculously cheap prices.

Is this perhaps to temp people who are trying for a dry October booze wise…
