No steering guard for me. Only the small U shape part on the front diff. That one is very effective.
Click image to enlarge I don't like the plate things below the front bumper as they don't help that much in my opinion. You can get very stuck because off them if you slide over a tree trunk or rock and get stopped by the front axle. The tree trunk can get between the steering guard and axle and you will have a nice time getting you out of there. The below axle guards cost to much clearance. If you go for looks, some look nice. What's more important to you, looks or function? Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

I have Land rover's own steering bar,not much use off road I believe, but I like the understated look and it will give some protection to the occasional road debris.

SVX guard second hand, cut with angle grinder to fit with bumper recovery points and then powdercoated black. CSK also do unbranded guards in gloss black.

I like the look of yours Mal, I prefer the understated blank types to the ones with the swaged holes.

Nice set of ramps for pottering about under the Defender - no excuses for poor standards of Defender hygiene in all the underside nooks and crannies.

Not just for offroad use just finished this 110 for a customer who then smacked it into a tree and put the landy on it's side guard I had fitted saved a lot and most importantly has saved it from being a write off 10mm thick ali guard with 10mm thick galvanised steel brackets
