Galvanised Chassis swop TD5 90
Hi,

My defender is just in the spray shop getting a refresh and some other bits and bobs. I really wanted to swop in a Galvanised Chassis and was wondering the best and most cost effective options . Ive seen people offering to do this for 1300.

Speak to a few companies and see what you get for what you pay.

A galvy chassis can cost £1300 odd quid inc vat so what is being done. What also happens when they find something else needing doing, Most common things is suspension bushes, and crusty brake pipes.
A independent near me is charging about £2300 but that gets a chassis, suspension and bushes plus labour, they are always most weeks doing a swap or two.

When I did mine it cost £2700, DIY, that included a replacement bulkhead at £300, new suspension, brake line, mud console and switches, nuts and bolts, clutch, timing belt and a few other bits and bobs, and that was about 3 years ago now, and I had been working around it doing small bits here and there. 2015 RRS Autobiography SDV6

When I first saw this post I smelled a rat! Nobody can put a legit galv chassis under a Landrover for £1300. Thinking about it a bit more I realise you must be talking about the labour/fitting cost where you are supplying the chassis for them to fit?

There are companies advertising 'reconditioned' galv chassis on ebay and the likes (let's face it, were talking about secondhand chassis here) but my understanding of the rules are that anything other than a brand new replacement means a mandatory Q plate so be careful what you sign up for!
