Yes used to run mine on fully synthetic. Made it much better.

For oil options talk to the oilman on here.

Yep that's what I used. But it's made by someone else. Think its Fuchs? Oilman knows about it.

Just to add to this, when I did alter oils thing slowly got better it was not an instant change.

MTF94 is "close" to 10W-40 engine oil. Main difference from other gear oils is, that MTF94 will wistand high temperature, because R380 can be very hot. When I bought our Discovery and changed oil to MTF94 gear change much improoved. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

I used diflocks evolution oil and the gear changes got steadily worse, so I put mtf 94 in and the changes are much better.

Redline MTL is what's going in my box next. Only on about 6000 since last change though but won't be far off a change. I like to keep them regular.

MTF fluid 75w80 or gear oil 75w90 all should be fine.

I've got semi synthetic gear oil in mine 75w90 runs like a dream. So all the transmission takes the same.

There's nothing fancy about an R380 gearbox that requires special fluid!!

(I had Difflock fancy stuff in mine after I purchased it, lasted about 25k, until after a run it it would barely change gear, my mechanic suggested changing the oil as they can loose there properties particularly when gearbox gets hot).

Had a 20ltr Smith & Allen gear oil tub to hand so used that ands works great - will probably change every 12k or so.

I run mtf94 in my R380 and changed it recently for fresh mtf94 after 2 years and about 25,000 miles and the gearbox was noticeably smoother, so if you've changed your mtf for something different and had an improvement it may just be that your old oil was knackered ! 2005 Td5 90 XS

this was only a question to see what others had done i have put ravenoll mtf2 in my 155k r380 a little while ago and i found a massive difference in gear change and oil was changed regularly ive had it from 50k. when i spoke to our oil rep he did not really want to say yes or no if i should use it but think only covering his back. so i thought i would give it ago as it my own truck and i wont be putting mtf 94 back in thats for sure buts thats only my experience .
