Does anyone know what thread this is?
Hi Guys,

I am looking at making up a fuel pick-up point for my Webasto for the up coming cold and chilly summer months Rolling Eyes

Does anyone know what thread this part is?

I imagine it is some sort of pipe thread but I want to know so I can get a fitting bought then machine a hole through the middle so I can drop a fuel pickup pipe down it.

Unless anyone knows of a better way of doing it?

Pipe in question is on a 200Tdi metal fuel tank.

That is a blank fitting for the bare tube on the tank. Possibly M8 thread? It will only be any good if the pipe goes down inside. It maybe only a breather type pipe.
Is your engine fuel supply taken from the other side via the sender unit ??

have you not got a spare outlet on the fuel filter

thought the 200tdi fuel filter housing had some outlet that had blanking plugs fitted

Thats the plan to make make a plug fitting which has a pipe on the inside which will go down into the bottom of the tank to pickup fuel Thumbs Up

The supply and return goes ontop of the tank and I'd rather not play with them as they are notoriously brittle on older trucks.

I want to try and keep the webasto fuel system as separate as possible from the engine fuel system to minimise on reliability issues for both items. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

im not 100% , but have you got a pic of filter housing

isn't it the screw on filter type

some filters have arrows on to showing which are ins and outs

I don't have a pick but I have done a quick google search and yes I think your right!

Do you think it would be ok to fit another banjo bolt with a pipe to feed the webasto?

I can put in a non return valve which should stop any air issues?

If yes what do I need to buy?

Or would it be better to go straight to tank?

you have a lift pump on a 200 tdi so filter is fed from the pump , could this be a problem ??

has anyone done it , ie fed heater from filter ? someone maybe along later who has

are you having the heater running without engine running ?

With my 110 my sender is on the l/h side. I was going to swap with a sender that has a pickup pipe as well such as AMR1495

Bad news is it looks like its an inlet rather than a outlet.

So I think its back to the fuel tank for answers?

I want to use it as a block pre-heater so have it running without the engine running, having said that would be good to be able to run it as a supplementary heater. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Looks like ether pickup goes in the side and return comes in the top, or vice versa.

Hummm.

The ones ive seen fitted in the ambulances we do , looks like you take the sender out , drill hole in sender , fit pipe with nut on inside to hold pipe tight , refit sender , of course making sure its sealed and pipe goes down in to diesel

personally never fitted one so all guess work , but must come with fitting instructions to follow

someone on here must have fitted one !
