Cleaning CP
What do you use to clean Chequer Plating without damaging or tarnishing it?
(Non painted Aluminium CP)
Nothing abrasive should be used obviously but a brush doesn't glean it up very well.
It's not oxidisation but seems to be very ingrained dirt, not much to complain about but is annoying.

What about something like wonder wheels or Wurth industrail cleaner? That should help shift the ingrained dirt Thumbs Up 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

Muc off and an old dishwashing brush could be worth a go, won't damage the paint at all.

I redid the side steps using ACF50 after a standard wash and it seemed to come up quite well. 1970 Series 2A 88"

Best thing for me was a jet wash - I've also used soapy water and a scrubbing brush. Everything else is likely to change the surface finish in someway.

Top Tip.....
Thought I would share as it works a treat. I have over the years tried many many different products in an attempt to clean my chequerplate but have finally hit on an excellent combination.

Wonder Wheels alloy wheel cleaner, Autosol and WD40.

The sills on my Landy were particularly bad with white oxidisation like stains that wouldn't shift. Just done one side and got the other to do in a minute. Coffee break thought I'd quickly post.

Spray the chequerplate with the Wonder Wheels and get a soft nail brush and apply some Autosol and WD40 to the brush. Agitate the Wonder Wheels on the chequerplate with the brush and gently scrub. Apply more WD40 to keep the chequerplate wet as the Wonder Wheels dries quite quickly as it turns to foam. Once finished liberally spray the chequerplate with WD40 get a clean rag and wipe everything down.

I guarantee 100% you'll be happy with the end result. I am.....It's a winning combination!

**EDIT** Addition of photos....Chequerplate is over 6 years old....

OK Steve, PM is more or less same as post. It does work extremely well, gets rid of oxidisation and ingrained dirt and tar etc, and is not labour intensive. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thumbs Up Are those Entreq door seal strip you've got there? Looks like SS to me.
You've got the CP along the side just like mine does in the same place.

They are Entreq door strips. I also made gaskets out of butyl pondliner for the chequerplate when it was taken off to fit the strips, it was amazing how much crud there was behind it. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I'm guessing you've got the same in the rear too.
I fact I'm sure you have...
Something I might look into in the future.
Got to sort my trailer lighting issues out first, then MOT then a service. Banging Head Then tax.
Probably my next objective will finally be Dynamat at long last.
