Fitting front seats in the back
When I bought my CSW it had a standard 1/3 split rear bench seat which I wasnt happy with from a safety view point for my two kids ( no head restraints). THe options were to either bite the bullet and put Exmoor premier seats in (expensive) or mount the original front seats in the back as I had just bought a pair of half leather Puma front seats for more comfort and heaters.

Luckily I have a TIG welder and decided to draw up a set of plans on a fag packet for new mounts. The photos that follow are the of the second mount as I tweaked the design as I went and then remade some aspects of the 1st frame to match the second.

Fits I made 2 rectangular frames, 1 to sit on the floor and the larger one to mount the seat to -

Early on i decided not to use the seat runners and adapted the home made frames to use the seat frame as you can see from the next photos;

Learning a lesson from the 1st one I made, I then chamfered the end of the main seat frame to stop little legs getting scratched !

Its then a case of adding some upright pieces to get the angle you want - i used about 8 to 10 degrees;

I then added some plates to pick up on the original seat mounts and added a single rear mount which bolts theough the load area floor right next to a stiffener for a bit of extra strength.

The finished article ready for powder coating - luckily we have a pretty decent guy a couple of miles away;

And finally back from powder coat, installed and ready to go as of 7 this evening, overall pretty pleased with the results, the kids are happy and i'm happy they are better protected than before.

Nice job.
That space looks perfect to mount a little drawer under them maybe?
Could be a good bit of extra storage or just for the kids bits. Defender puma dormobile camper

Thanks guys, there was going to be a lockable compartment under each seat but time ran out as usual. May build one to bolt in over the winter, either that or weld it in and get the frame re coated.

Drawings ? That's for people who worry about the odd mm and in the spirit of Defender construction I took the "best fit by eye" route.
Sorry but there aren't any although if you are interested I will get the key measurements and send them over.
