Note to self......if you don't put the lid on the water tank properly it goes everywhere! Embarassed

Good jobs it's 30degrees here in Germany and drying it out.

Ferry trip was great, although a large coke in Denmark was £8.

Just sat having a beer in the Faroe Islands.....and yes, it's raining.

Faroe Islands are stunning, definitely worth a visit. Next ferry to Iceland is Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Green

Is that a Frontrunner roofrack? A bit odd, I noticed you have three legs on the side, I think standard is four (at least I have four)...

Have a nice trip, Iceland is on my list too Smile Cheers, Vincent

See if you still say that after Wednesday - the wait for the ferry can drag, and it's funny running to all the spots around the island and bumping into everyone else off the ferry just killing time.

Well I thought i'd just get on with a short trip report and follow up with a full report (diary style) when Marie gets round to typing it up.

We went to Iceland by the Faroe Islands which were very scenic and friendly. We spent 3ish days there and although we could have stayed longer i think it was about right. Torshaven is a lovely little capital and a great place to stop.

We then caught the ferry to Iceland.

Iceland is epic.......we did about 1500miles both on and off road (gravel tracks) and camped all but one night

Costs are about the same as the UK, no issues with any navigation of river crossings. A point to note is that we went mid July and some of the interior roads were only just opening because of snow.

Camping - its worth investing in decent kit. My Maggiolina coped very well in what i would class as near hurricane winds (which blew in most nights). Decent fridge for cold beer (about £6 a can so I smuggled in a crate - you're only aowed to take 6 litres into Iceland by customs) and the foxwing and sides were a godsent, although i tended to put it away before bed so as not to break it with the winds.

The car - a brand new 110 XS SW that i'd put a snorkal, roof rack, roof tent, spare wheel carrier and a bit of chequer plate. Mechanically absolutely sound on some very rough tracks and corrugations, not even a hint of rattly clutch I'd had in my previous 110's. I think all the mods i did were useful, the chequer plate sills did the job and protected the paintwork from flying stones etc. The one thing i would have liked would have been a properly plumbed in air tank for letting the tyres down and pumping them back up again. Also I modified a water tank out of a Bulldog APC which Censored water everywhere and soaked the plywood shelf i had on top of the MSS drawers - luckily i noticed and fixed but drying stuff in Iceland is problamatic. The only other thing would be cruise control - Denmark back to Wales is a long drive and I started getting numb legs. Volcanic dust scratches glass, especially when you have the window down a couple of inches and the widow rattles around.

A few gripes though. I Sikaflexed what i could before i left but I had serious water ingress through the rear wheel arches around the seat belt fixings - literally horrendous, although i was pleased that nothing came in through the bulkhead/windscreen. Telltale dust ingress through the rear speaker area and the trim started to fall off around the rear windows. Only other problem was the central locking on the off side rear door was intermittent, although to honest this was a problem before we left.
