whining sound and lost op power
Hello,

I've recently have got a BAS remap from a local LR-mechanic.
The bas remap has been done to remove the speedlimiter and EGR

Now I've got a strange problem with it, and nobody knows how to solve the problem...

I'm driving the car normally on highway at 120km/u (75miles) everything normal untill I try to get to 140 km (86miles) or above,... the car struggles to get there (before the remap no problem to 86miles) , after a while i get 140km and suddenly lost all power untill.
I must change gear to 4th an can get power at 100 km/u (62 miles) and can't drive faster than +/- 62 miles....

I stopped the car, start the car again, and hear a loud whistle from +/- 2250 rev and have lost power around 80km (50miles)

Went to the mechanic again, every tube is checked, checked if there are any leaks in intercooler, intern turbo seams to be good,.. mechanic does a test run, no problems....

yesterday again al longer trip with and after +/- 45minutes same problems as above...very frustrating to drive...

Strange thing is that if i got no loss of power i hear something that rattles.... if i got loss of power nothing rattles...

Anybody got any idea ?

Got a trip end july to wales and do not want to have a broken car over there

The whistling would suggest an inter cooler / hose problem - just strange that it's so infrequent. It might be a hairline crack that opens more when a component gets hot.

I had a similar issue with an old 200 Tdi - I made a blanking plate to be fitted just before the turbo, which had a bicycle valve fitted - obviously airtight. I then could pressurise the turbo, hoses, inter cooler and manifold with a calibrated bike pump to 20 psi and listen for leaks. Spray everything with soapy water as leaks can been seen easily - the soap bubbles. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk
