I have not disputed your claim that to watch catch up TV you are not required to have a licence (as yet). My whole point is that if you have a television capable of receiving live TV you require a licence, whether you watch live TV or not, that is the law you cannot get round that. The only way round it is to disable your television so that it is incapable of receiving a signal.

You can quote the vagaries of the law till the cows come home but it does not alter the fact that if you have a TV capable of receiving live TV signals it has to be licenced.

I take your point on wasted budgets - I think it was the wages they paid Alan Hansen that made me the angriest.

However, I would hope the law could be changed to take account of new technology and effectively close the loophole you are usng to watch content for free - for the benefit of the rest of us!
