LED coloured lamp kit question
I am looking at this Wipac kit: (http://www.lrparts.net/defender-led-coloured-lamp-kit-in-genuine-land-rover-style-upgrade-kit-for-front-and-rear-lights-by-wipac.html), but the vendor has some other brands and some that are priced as high as 389 quid (River Runner). Looking for some feedback on the Wipac kit, and if I would also need to buy any harness or relay to install them? If there are any recommendations on a different brand please do share that as well.

It is way more expensive though. Not saying it is not worth, but what makes the price difference?

The link to the rdx ones include the fog and reverse lights where as the wipac kit doesn't. You can get an rdx kit with the relay but without the fog and reverse lights for about a tenner more than the wipac kit.

The RDX relay works with trailer functionality as standard as it should where the Wipac relay is a bit more iffy.
No price difference if bought in a kit which I didn't and paid more but there you go. Rolling Eyes
RDX and NAS spec lights are a touchy subject with me! I had a lot of issues getting a match of design etc etc.
I have LUX units but the last of the stock so if anyone gets the RDX kit I'd highly recommend they buy the
light kit with relay then get Wipac fog and reverse from Paddocks or similar.
Along with two Econoseal connectors too of course.
There is no such thing as RDX fog and reverse so makes no difference.

Thumbs Up

I just bought LED bulbs. Needed to get a flasher relay changed to accept the indicator bulbs. Cost pence rather than hundreds of pounds. Will never have to change a bulb again (probably) and they look just fine without attracting too much attention from thieving scum Censored !

Can anyone advise on that LED bulbs to install on the side indicators? Not that I need them, I just like to fiddle with my car's electrics Smile
PS: the RDX stuff looks great and is a joy to install Smile Now I have a bunch of OEM lights with nothing to do with them. If anyone is interested...

LED bulbs are illegal, I found that out myself. Whistle
Reason being is that they cannot be E marked like the incandescent bulbs are.
RDX kit etc are factory E marked.

What I'd recommend you do if you try those is that you'll have to use the original side repeater bulb holder.
Reason being so that you don't chop of the LR plug.
Issue is with this that if the holder isn't in the side repeater it's no longer sealed.
So I'd plug it in and then heatshrink over all of it to keep moisture out.
Bit of a gaff but I'd always recommend never cutting of original plug.
If you get those please take fitted photos if you can, I might follow suit.
I'd appreciate it if I you could anyway.
Thumbs Up

Rumour I heard from BoB I.e, the supplier of RDX lights is that there may be an E marked side repeaters produced in the future.
But there is no guarantee of this and certainly no date.

I tried SMD LED bulbs in the holders, they worked perfectly but always knowing they aren't strictly legal I went back yo standard.
For now anyway, stupid laws. Rolling Eyes
