Londoners, travel help please...
So today I may have to drive down to London, and I was wondering where I can park for around 48h to then get the tube into Central London (South kensington/imperial college) and drive back out on bank holiday Friday about 3-5 in the afternoon (ugh!)...

It doesn't have to be the cheapest car park in the world and I'd rather it was well lit, secure, easy to access London etc, and also want to take into account the best way out of London in the afternoon this friday?

I would probably go a40, m40, m6 etc, would there be a better (simple) route for a busy time?

Appreciate any help in advance! Cheers, David

Actually thinking on it, unless anyone says otherwise, I'll just get the train and live with the extra cost... The traffic will be horrendous I'd expect? Cheers, David

Whenever SWMBO and I go to London (quite often), we use the carpark right behind St Thomases hospital, right at the end of Westminster bridge.

Costs Ł12.50 for 24 hours, and is secure (there's a car hire company in the same carpark, and it seems to be subsudised/used a lot by the NHS)

From the carpark to Westminster/Big ben takes about 3 minutes walking.

Cheers for the advice guys, and the offer chris! Was going to do it but then thought about driving out of London 5pm on Friday and had a little shiver.

Will make use of it in the future though I'm sure Cheers, David

Westfield as mentioned already is a popular choice and easy. Or street park for free in Gerrards Cross / Beaconsfield etc and get the 30 minute train to Marylebone on the excellent Chiltern line. Then no driving out of London or in needed
