Well I swapped my wheels around during a brief respite in the monsoon at the weekend. And what a difference that has made! Sawtooth wear was a visible (and now audible) culprit, so many thanks to all for the suggestions and in particular to DavidBMB.

My tyres are still noisy, but so much quieter now! I reckon that 90% of the whine has gone - from my tyres and from my wallet Laughing

I'll keep my ears open and prepare to swap them again in a few thousand miles. No big deal if it stops raining by then....

Now i'm off to shoot that budgie.
