New Bonnet Release Cable
Hi all,

Few queries for you (I have already searched):

My truck (1988 Defender) currently has no bonnet release cable. I'm wanting to put one on it however, I don't know what this is to order one (the small bit at the end of the cable)

What / where can I order one?

Secondly, there's no bracket in the cab to mount the "puller" end, I've searched however can't seem to find any replacement for it. Ideas?

I've just got a new one for mine, think it was about £7, I got it from my local supplier but believe its a Britpat item.
The handle bit is in the cab, left side of clutch pedal, I've not looked under the bonnet and its chucking it down at the moment

cheers for the quick reply.

Yeah I've got the new cable mechanism but it didn't come with the small metal bit at the end.

I know where the cable is supposed to go in the cab but there's no bracket for it... I think originally they were spot welded on?

This is where mine fits near the release mechanism, not sure how you would fix it without the 'nipple'

many thanks, that solves that problem.

Any idea what to do about the bracket though?

Bolt a piece of angle iron in the place where the original went?

not sure if you got nipple sorted , you could put a small bolt down though the hole in the bonnet latch lever with small hole drilled through it , pass cable through hole and lightly tighten nut against the cable

you used to be able to buy universal cables with a bracket included

So I take it I should fabricate something to go off of the large bolts to the left of the clutch pedal.

Also, I can't see anywhere obvious where the cable is supposed to go through the firewall?

Looks like mine is riveted or welded in place. The cable goes through to the left of the clutch pedal
