Has anyone heard of a 10 year service?
Just been ringing around a few garages this morning, two of which were LR main dealers. One of them told me as my vehicle was 10 years old they would do a the 10 year service on it... £830! My TD5 is just about to hit 72000m so I was expecting the 72000 miles service. I've googled this "10 year service" but can't find refernce to it anywhere.

When I've asked what is included it seems just like a 72000 miles service B but maybe more thorough?

Don't know about the 10 year service bit but might be worth asking about "legacy rates" on labor (10-15%off)

My main dealer does all the jobs I can't do at this rate and has saved me thousands in the years I've had her and all because she is over 10 years old Thumbs Up

Sounds interesting, I think i'm going to try and get a full break down of what they do and if it doesnt seem worth it I might go with the other LR dealer who quoted me for the 72000, around £450. Then on top of that I will mention this 'Legacy Rates' and see what happens, hopefully this isnt one of those 'Glass Hammer' or 'Rainbow Paint' tricks... .. Just checked service checklist on webrover and ancilliary belt is due at 96k service (B service) and intercooler is due a flush every 48k so that would be due too.

Hope this helps. 2005 Td5 90 XS

I'd e surprised if many dealers actually recognised a 10 year old vehicle - some get sniffy if it's more than 5 years old!

I'd think the expertise to maintain such vehicles rested very much with the indie sector of the market.

I know yours is a TD5 but on more recent Defenders a 10 year cycle is indicated for ancilliary belts, gearbox oil and coolant.

Ha!

Every time I take my 23 year old 110 into Harwoods Tonbridge there eyes light up with excitement as they have one they physically can't use a laptop on!

Yes it is slightly more expensive than a independent but when they broke my p gasket while doing the timing they stripped the whole front of the engine down and rebuilt it FOC and were only too eager to give me a Freelander 2 to borrow but as they only needed it for a day to do the work it was not needed.

Always seem me right on parts and labour so when I hand over my hard earned I feel they have earned it!

Well, I decided against it in the end! No surprise. I have gone with the standard 72000 miles service and also told them to look at a couple of things for me. If any of you are interested I have gone with Hillendale as someone on here recommended them. Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert..

P.S shaggydog, I mentioned that legacy thing, and you are right, they applied a discount which was the equivalent of 10% Thumbs Up

Cheers! Michael was just telling me a story about a friend of his who slept with a land rover, lonely nights in the desert..

"10 year service".....

That's what most farmers do isn't it? every 10 years whether it needs it or not.
