Sorry for the delay. I have been on holiday.

I have no concerns about debris getting stuck on top of the guard. I cant see it adding any suction in mud either and if its that sticky and deep you will have enough problems anyway!

As for the head light surrounds. I had the outers laser cut out of 2mm Aluminium and the inner parts are series 3 items I bought. 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.

finally got it off road today. Did a few slippery sections of track, and got a wheel off the ground a couple of times. Pretty impressed with how it went

Nice work Pete. Great to hear the new ride is a joy.

Look forward to watching the build. Nice start on the fuel cooler bash plate. Far more practical than many of the other options in the market.

Will see how it goes. I have a few things in mind. Used it again this weekend at the Springs 4wd park.

Some pics from the trip below. Car went pretty well. Got some marks on 3 of the wheels now though from a pretty loose rocky climb!

Thanks Neil,

First trip back to the dealer tomorrow.. 6000Km now.

It has an oil leak from somewhere on the left hand side of the engine near the front.

They are also going to hopefully fix the rear seat that has been broken since day 2, and find the squeak that has been doing my head in!

Fingers crossed it comes back in good condition still... I will be pretty unhappy if it has any marks on it.... 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.

As this is 3 years old and out of warranty in a couple of weeks I thought I would give a bit of an update on it.

So, currently it has covered 64000 km

It has had a few issues, which I have tried to recall in order below. (I may have forgotten some)


    Broken rear seat release
    New timing cover
    New crank seal
    Expansion tank caps x2
    Rear main seal
    Tunnel cover/floor mats (due to careless mechanic while doing rear main seal)
    Regassed aircon
    Top hose
    Rear hub seal
    rear headlining
    Intercooler hose
    Roof repainted
    Battery replaced (2 weeks ago)
    rear diff (booked in for end of month)
    Both keys (booked in for end of month)


Miles more issues that my TD5 90 had in the same period, but this is definitely a better 'car' although I am not the biggest fan of the 6spd box

I have been moaning about a driveline clunk for about 30000km and they finally agreed to change the rear diff, and the cases of both keys are coming apart so they are both being changed aswell. 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.
