Anyone know exactly what this item is and why the price should vary on the same invoice?

No. There's a remarkably low return on Google. Is this a trick question. Is it going to pay for my puncture repair? Does it hold the key to tomorrow night's Euro Lotto jackpot numbers?

Somehow I had a sneaky suspicion it was alarm fob battery.

Just been charged for two of them at two different prices. Interesting the dealer only had one fob!

He probably dropped one, it'll shoot out on your feet one day from under the seat.

2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 DCPU Santorini Black
Mines just had its second service £530 all in price before they started, best I could get in leafy surrey Thumbs Up
When I gave service desk the keys and gave him the second set, he looked at me Shocked
I said according to the service schedule it requires battery change in the remotes Banging Head
Second one only been used 2 times to unlock it Rolling with laughter
Still it keeps warranty going I guess It's good to be back from the dark side

Back in the days when I used to have my Disco 2 dealer serviced (when it was under warranty) by Ottons in Salisbury (now Westover Landrover Salisbury) they always supplied the battery for the second handset for me to fit.

£530 for a service ,they would have had to pick me up off the floor and give me oxygen !
