Cooling system fluid replacement
My Defender is 5y old and before summer season I would like to replace the cooling system fluid.

Is this a DIY task that can be made at home ? I read somewhere that fluid can be drained by disconnecting the water lines from the fuel cooler located on the bottom of the vehicle.

The refill must be entirely made from the expansion tank ?

Any advice or suggestion really appreciated, thanking in advance.

Extract from the owners handbook:-

"To make sure that the anti-corrosion properties of the coolant are retained, the antifreeze content should be
completely renewed every ten years, regardless of distance traveled".

I have used Ford`s coolant to top mine up because I can not purchase the Texaco coolant Land Rover recommend in the handbook. Label on the Ford stuff says it provides protection for 10 years.

Thanks both driver9 and MK for the information. I'm impressed about the 10y lifespan of the OAT fluid!
