Overseas Purchase Advice

I live in Japan, Tokyo to be exact, and I have always wanted a Defender 110 especially since new ones are not available in North America.

I recently found an importer than can order a new one but the warranty is only good for one year. Land Rover Japan doesn`t sell the Defender. Should I be worried given problems in the past? Is there anything that I should be weary of?
