Welcome to this land Morten.
If I can help in anything I will be very happy.

Just a thougth.
In your south comeback, instead to use the RN40 in Argentina, enter to Chile through Paso Roballos and do the Carretera Austral in Chile. Far better scennery than the Argentina side (just a boring pampa).

See this thread.

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic5797.html?highlight=patagonia

Also visit Ushiaia and dont forget Torres del Paine (a must to do)
Get in touch with the Argentinean and Patagonia Land Rover club (www.landroverclub.com.ar, www.lrclub.cl) they can help you a lot

Cheers! Eduardo

I think that I will contact the landrover club in argentina, they might be able to help me with a contact for getting insurance. We will need third part insurance and we would prefer to get one that covers all of south america.

Mog - let me know how you get on. This is firmly on my to-do list. I will keep an eye on the blog and the links from Eduardo. We're probably 3 or 4 years from doing it ourselves but it has been a dream for many years.....just work getting in the way. Went to Peru many years ago and fell in love with that part of the world - such a large variation in what you can see.

Very jealous!

Enjoy

Sounds like a great trip, its on our "to do" list too but as we are just back from Southern Africa, having only scratched the surface we feel we have more travelling to do there first. Watching with interest though. Smile Keep it coming.

Hello U-two
Thanks for all the fantastic pictures you upload on your homepage very sharp, nice and spectacular views.
Hope you enjoy your trip and all will go well. If possible my wife Laila and I would be grateful if we could learn a bite of your experience regarding transport of your LR to South America we have some thoughts about doing the same trip.

Best regards

Greetings from Santiago, Chile
Hi,
Welcome to South America. A quick introduction: I am born and raised above the Artic Circle in Norway, but currently splitting my time between US and Chile. I am now planning my 2014 Expedition to Bolivia, Peru and Brazil in my 2008 Puma. I did the Carratera Austral and Ruta 40 last year. Make sure to slow down and spend time on Chiloe and also around the Chilean Lake District. The Chileans are super friendly, you will have the time of your life coming up Carratera Austral. Please let me know when you schedule to be in Santiago, perhaps we can meet for a beer. Safe adventurous travel. MY 2008 SW Defender 110

Hi Tjaank110

Good to know about another LR addict in this city
Probably I will meet with mog when he arrives to Santiago (he is now in Mendoza), so a beer will be a good idea.

BTW: We are preparing a LR meeting at the end of March in the Lakes district if you like to join us.

Cheers! Eduardo

A quick update

Finally and after 3 weeks we release mog to continue his overlanding to the north. Technical stop to get a new turbo was longer than he expected but now he is in the route Mr. Green .

We discovered something very interesting in his motor that both of us were not aware. Probably he will told about it later.

Cheers! Eduardo
