Headlining options...
My truck cab roof lining is sagging and mucky, it needs either replacing or chucking out.
Suppose it's done it's job for 25 yrs!
Has anyone removed the headlining and either had nothing in it's place or stuck some felt or similar to the roof?
I guess condensation can be a problem, when I took mine out there was a fair bit on the roof, does a layer of felt sort?

HI,

Your are right if you remove it there is condensation (which is normally why they sag to start with. You could replace with new or take it out peel off some of the material from the back and try and get out some of the scrim which will have crumbled, then use spray adhesive to glue it back down. But after a year or so there is a good chance it will happen again. LRI Solutions Ltd

On my laning 90, it came with no headliner. So I searched ebay for some automotive carpet and a big can of spray glue. Glued it down from the centre and cut it in to give a good finish. Been that way for 5 yrs now. No issues with condensation or saggy roof liner either

If you're looking for a (much better!) replacement headlining, try LaSalle trim. Mine's from them, and it's much firmer and more solid than the flimsy original! An engine to TDi for!

Thanks for the replies, I've removed the fabric and dried the cardboard part out completely, beside a dehumidifier for a few days, then I washed the fabric part in the washing machine as I had nothing to lose! I though it might shrink but came out very clean, not shrank at all, and I stuck it back on today with spray adhesive, so far it seems to have worked out well... for once something went well Thumbs Up

I had a sagging lining on my 1989 110 so I took it all down and got some insulation which was the foam lining you use for laminate flooring and spray glued to the roof, I haven't covered it up because it looked good (in Black) so I put another layer on so doubled up, its great but not flame retarted, only cost £10 and ive got loads left, I just got end of roll from local carpet right.

Im gonna cover up with thin ply and a felt type covering as its easy ripped if snagged
( I put poles in back of mine so I sometimes catch roof)

need 2 layers of this to level up so flush with "box section part of roof" or 3 layers to smooth off, I do get water drips of condensation on the box section parts of roof if you know what im on about

I think felt only would be like a sponge knowing what I know of my setup
