BFG MUD Terrains - What Tyre Pressure?
Does anyone know what pressures I should be running in my BFG muds?
Vehicle 90 County Hard Top
Not pulling any weight
Tyre Size 265 75 R16

Start at Standard and work up and down from there

The reason for this is one pressure will work for some wont work for others only you know how you want it to feel

I do 2.2/2.6 with BFG AT (Size 265 75 R16)
on my 110. Boldly going nowhere

Discovery 3 after a Defender 110 Crew Cab TD4 and a 1964 SIIA 88 Regular.

There is a school of thought that says BFGs should be run 8psi higher than standard. I used to do this on my V8 Disco (245/75R16 Mud Terains) and it felt better than standard pressures.

However I now run my Defender on 285/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains at standard pressures with no problems. MAD COW

If I recall it was doing the rounds on the Discovery Owners Club Forum about four or five years ago, I tried it and it worked on the Disco so might have been vehicle specific rather than for BFGs in general? MAD COW

Those high pressures might work well on good tarmac.
But on the stony tracks here in Kenya it is far too much! The ride is too harsh.

I drive them (255/85R16 MT) on 1.7 bars / 25 Psi all around.
Comfort is much better at these low pressures.
Basically you will notice the difference every 0.1 bars that is reduced. Joost

I run the BFG MT's a little higher than standard for a disco as mine was a Camel and 2500 kg empty. The tyres wore nice even over the thread. If you run to high you will get more wear in the centre and too low you will wear the sides more. Roel

I tried that on my old D1 and couldn't drive it in a straight line (265/75x16) ended up running 32lb all round but on my Puma run standard tyre pressures on same size tyres but 8 inch rims
