Holes in battery box floor?
Hi all, just bought my first defender last weekend (2001 td5 90), and this is my first post. Went for a drive earlier and went throughout a large puddle, when I got home there was water in the passenger footwell which looked like it had come from under the passenger seat.

I had spotted on Sunday that there were two holes, approx 10mm diameter in the bottom of the battery box under the passenger seat and could see the driveway through them. Being new to defenders I wasn't sure if this was normal, any ideas?

Thanks,

Some people find holes others dont. Its a defender quirk. After off roading I have mud come up under the cubby box and through the front bottom corners of the doors.

Bung your holes with some rubber grommets from halfords or such like. Measure the hokes first dont guess trust me youll guess wrong lol. Then jobs a gooden

Thanks, I'll measure them tomorrow at work then pop to halfords. Just wasn't sure if they were meant to be there or not.

My (Td5) seat base had holes in it which lined up perfectly with the factory twin battery mount.

Also there's usually a load of slots for the battery clamp to attach to.

I've got these on a '02 TD5 - are they anything to do with ventilation (e.g. for hydrogen from the battery)?
