you actually can do it yourself if you know what you are supposed to do.
the puma and td5 use the same alarm box - 10AS so you will need : 1. a diagnostic tool eg nanocom 2. lock motor for all the doors 3. the bonnet switch and bracket 4. the door switches (if your interior lamp doesn't come on when you open the door, assuming it's enabled in the 10AS) 5. lotsa wires 6. the door to bulkhead 'rubber snake' (optional) 7. BBUS unit (optional) 8. Transponder coil (optional) 9. EP2-3N1S relay (if your 10AS doesn't come with the CDL feature) 10. correct frequency fob (433Mhz for europe and 315Mhz for Au,Nz, Us and RoW) 11. Internal volumetric sensor and harness (optional) 12. soldering iron 13. patience You will need the wiring diagram as well for the wires. Again this can be found on this forum. the 10AS, we are interested in the green connector for the lock and unlock direct drive signal, pin 2 and 3. So if you are not confused with the above, you can look up the guide i wrote on another forum (google Factory alarm on a Td5), if not, it's better you pay the stealership to do it. The Puma and Td5 use a very similar 10AS unit - but not the same.
PUMA has a different CAN function for the Alarm. Not hard to do using genuine bits - but is a dashboard out job to do it properly (so looks OE - rather than a lashed up bodge). If that price included parts then its very fair as there is a lot to fit! As long as the workmanship was good and they put it all back together again correctly I would say get the dealer to do it! Its one thing fitting the parts , its another getting them to work! I assume that quote is for remote central locking operated from your alarm fob and not just worked by having to put your key in the lock and turning it?

Damn, i knew it. they put in the 10AS and then build the defender around it.
400pounds, with all the bits, ok. pay them. it was a 1000 pounds option if i got it with the Td5 from the factory back in 2002. now less than half price? even if they only did the central locking using the 10AS it would be enough. you then need to program the fella to enable the alarm and immob after buying the other bits. When our 2007 110 was brought, the boss over looked ordering central locking.
After a month or so he sent it back & was charged £1300 to fit it 
£400 is too cheap if you ask me  Chris
