Heater controls too bright.
Somehow not too sure how the bulb that lights the heater controls blinds me now when im driving...

I wedged a bit of tape in there just for the time being but does anybody have an actual fix?

Other than remove the bulb....

hard to photo but

I do have a single din fold out with lots of connections on the back... but it had been fine for 2+ years...

Either the holder has come adrift or the bulb is failing and has become a lot brighter. If the latter, sort it asap since it will also have become a lot hotter and will melt the housing, probably rendering one or more slider inoperable. You will then be faced with an absurdly huge bill for a replacement heater control panel. Ask me how I know this....

that does look very much like the bulb has fallen out of the holder and is now lighting up EVERYTHING behind the slider

the slider has a bit of thin plastic attached to it's stem I think. This slides back and forth with the slider to block the hole up. Looks like it's become misaligned or damaged to me. A bit of black plastic cut from a ready meal pot or similar would replace it.

Pretty common fault on circa 2011 models. Mine failed and melted the slider in the off position. Fortunately I had the extended warranty which covered the repair. I think the new panel was around £400 - ouch!
