Can't really help you much about one of those, but there are a few members that do have them I think.

never owned a BB device, but on iPhone, android, etc etc the TOMTOM software is very good.
fairly expensive (20-50) depending on how much map data you get (UK or Europe for example) but has many features and works very well. I use my iPhone and do mapping, calls, music etc all through it. the tomtom works well because it links in with contacts etc, and allows control of music & handling of calls without losing navigation. map data is ALWAYS up to date too, because of regular updates & users can suggest changes for approval by Tomtom. their traffic (extra) is also very good none of this is from any BB experience, and BB are having some serious troubles at the moment so not sure how often stuff is being updated, or how much software is developed for them, but on my iPhone or on an android tab/phone i'd look no further. there are cheaper ones but IMO none as complete Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I use Navfree on my android phone as navigation and use Mapswithme in areas like Romania etc where Navfree does not have maps. Both are also available for apple but then you have to pay for the free maps.

I use my BB Playbook in my Landy, and the mapping software I use is a free download from the BBWorld site called "ViewRanger GP".
I reckon it's pretty good, but even though the download is free, the detailed OS maps have to be bought via their website. They're not too much, and a damn sight cheaper than paper OS maps  I got pretty much all the OS 'tiles' for Salisbury Plain and the immediate area and it was about 10-12. The mapping is stored on the unit as well, so the mapping is always available. All the stuff like GPS tracking, route marking etc. is there as well.
I also got a suction mount for the PlayBook from Amazon, and it's the only one I've found that actually holds a PlayBook properly and allows access to the buttons etc. Linky: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Surface-Suction-St...y+playbook Mike. |
