I am also looking into this and want the auto switching.. seems some good 2nd hand machines can be sort but have to watch 3 phase vs single as it would appear it hugely affects the advertised output!

I would like auto switching also, but would be happy with a manual throw switch, this is what i am currently looking at, I dont need 3 phase

I got a twin cylinder Launtop from these guys http://tinyurl.com/kbqtnfs for a few hundred pounds.
I live in the sticks with heating by oil and electricity lines through woodlands somewhere. The net result is a lack of nearby humanity (which can be nice), and an occasional downed line which means I'm out of juice for the boiler and stuff. So we've got the house set up with a lower level consumer unit which can be run by the generator (boiler, downstairs lights and cooker). We don't have the automatic switching but do have a large switch that can be moved from the low level consumer unit to the complete setup. There'll be a tell tale too for when the power comes back. I don't mind walking 10yds to key start the generator. It's a Honda engine too, which is something I looked for. |

We have a Honda that is off memory 6kva on our house in Spain .
Use it as back up to the sun tracking solar , auto kick in. We are up in the mountains off a rambler which can be a bit isolated if the rain comes. |
