Annoying brakes!!!
So, having just spent a million pounds (maybe a little exaggeration) on new front callipers, discs, pads and swivels the brake rattle from the new set up was constant and driving me nuts so I found the new anti rattle kit from Landrover and went to buy it from a local supplier Shocked Shocked Shocked

£20 + vat for this!!!!

It's four bits of bent wire! It'd had better be silent when I've fitted them tomorrow! Evil or Very Mad Landrover really do just think up random prices.

I did get told about and purchased a rear anti rattle kit for a Volvo which is basically the same idea for only £8 that apparently fits defender rear pads (I don't think Landrover do a set for the rear) so I'll report back on if they work.

thats what was fitted to the rear of mine to stop the rattle - guess what, still rattles, drives crazy. Apparently if you fit two kits, then it stops.

Just being nosey here (and trying to understand)

We offer 2 types of front pads one with triangle shape pin holes, one with oval holes. My local indie always wants the oval hole pads otherwise they rattle unless he fits a £20 kit from LR, so seeing your post I am guessing this is the same problem.

Not having a genuine set of pads to look at can you tell me what shape the pin holes are?

Thanks, just want to get to the bottom of that query! Paul Redding

Mine are the oval holes but with everything being new including callipers there's no baked on brake dust to stop everything moving a little so the rattle was constant Big Cry I've just fitted the anti rattle springs and been for a little test run. On bigger potholes (I'm in Yorkshire so that's what our roads are made of) you still get a little rattle but on the better "less potholed" roads there's not rattles at all so I'm happy even with the £40 price tag for the new pins and springs all the way round, after the expense of replacing everything at the front Rolling Eyes
