Not keen on the idea of jail breaking the iPad. What does this actually do to the iPad.

As per my post above, you don't have to jailbreak. Just buy a Garmin glo GPS receiver and use that. Works with memory map ipad app too

Jailbreaking modifies the firmware and removes restrictions preventing the installation of third party applications. This gives the device more functionality. However, for GPS purposes, if there is a GPS receiver that works with Apple's Bluetooth stack then there would be no need to jailbreak to achieve that additional functionality. 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

Cheers - TBH - it's still under warranty so will steer clear of that -

Coming back to original post - I think a smaller 7" tablet will be the choice - The Samsung seems to be the one to look at as it also has direct links with my phone -

DJ - I'm keen to see where you are finding the products at the prices quoted - If you have any links PM or post as all I'm seeing in stock is way much more expensive. I'm assuming it's just the wifi model needed as it does have a GPS receiver built in ? Defender 110 County SW

Carphone warehouse is where I got mine at £139, recently been advertised on tv at PC world at £129 (white model)

If you need a phone CW will do you a free tablet with phone contract!

You may be seeing adverts for the new model 3 possibly which is £179 - there's not much to choose between to the two TBH except some of the dimensions/buttons are different so you probably won't find a hard case to fit at the moment.

I'm thinking the model 2 will sell out in the not too distant future so get it now, otherwise you'll have to wait for the model 3 to come down in price!

Yes just the wifi model will do nicely ,if you happen to be at Peterborough you can give mine the onceover
