Anyone know a convenient location (preferably under the dash with easy access!) that I can pickup the reverse switch and handbrake lines for connection to the stereo... I can probably just ground the handbrake one to over-ride it, but apparently some HUs are smart to that...

I think you would be faster taking the cubby out and going straight to the reverse switch on the gearbox! William

Take cubby box out and you will find reverse switch, and handbrake cables.
I am sure it's a stupid question, but, why does your stereo need to be connected to your handbrake? Andy |

If you have a head unit capable of showing TV or DVD it must only work whilst the hand brake is on i.e not driving.

Yes - video playback stops & some phone functions aren't available.

Some of the newer HUs apparently sense the handbrake line... If its permanently low, it assumes its been bypassed and doesn't work! You can get little relay devices to go inline, so the HU 'sees' the handbrake being released... Not sure if my HU is a 'clever' one...

Glad to say, that my HU isn't a 'clever' one - handbrake line direct to earth and it thinks the handbrake is on!

I just installed 2 reverse cameras and a head unit with a flip out screen. Didn't bother with the handbrake option as you'd have to be unbelievable stupid to watch a DVD whilst driving, HU seems unaffected by it.
I ran the wires (2x video, 2x power) from the rear driver side under the chassis where the trailer electrics are, tied the wires along the chassis and into the cab via the under seat box, then under the carpet and up into the dash via the fuse box (MY00 dash). One wire connected to the reverse light and the other was for a spur off the cigarette socket that comes on when ignition is at position II>, this way I can use either camera regardless of which gear I'm in |
