Door seals...not water ingress. More ambitious than that.
Don't laugh.

I'd like to make the Puma doors more airtight.....

Stop it!

The Td5 doors, rot prone though they are shine like a beacon of quietness and decorum within the puss filled mire of the Puma's inadequacy.

At 60mph+ the td5 with it's overdrive in is a lot lot quieter than every Puma I've been in and I'm sure it's down to the windnoise from the doortop regions.

I've fitted new door seals which made zero difference and having seen the shape of these new doors taped some thin plastic tubes to the door where it meets the seal. Huge improvement but hardly a quality fix.

I've perused many a ventilation parts catalogue as well as automotive ones for a seal the same as the current Defender design just with a taller box section to that it actually meets the chuffin door tops properly but to no avail.

Anyone found any other solutions? 90XS Tdci John Eales

I'm afraid I can't help with the door seals, but it's nice to have a wordsmith on the forum! Nice work there! Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Have you tried adjusting the striker plates to pull the door in tighter ? 2005 Td5 90 XS

Hi I tried all the various window sealants, stick on type to no effect. Took to local Independant and they bent the top in slightly, not a great description, sounds agricultural but it worked and I can cruise at 80 before wind noise now. Also the doors still close as before.
It's how they adjusted the trim on Spitfire to get them to fly straight and level so can't be a bad thing. _______________________________

The striker plate is the bit on the door frame (the one you catch you belt loops on as you get out) that the the door lock latches onto.
if you undo the screws that attatch it you can adjust them in or out thus pulling the door inwards if you have moved the striker inwards.
Hope this helps. 2005 Td5 90 XS
