I still reckon those seats looked better in the back of my D3 Big Cry

With those rims on that thing looks like it could withstand a mine blast Thumbs Up And my accountant keeps whispering to me about claiming back the VAT and writing down the full cost of a 110 USW in year 1 Whistle

I think decision time beckons Confused

Yup, any car with 110g/km CO2 or less, purchased brand new by a business is eligible for 100% write-down in the first year, however:

- BIK tax is still based on it being a car
- You can't reclaim the VAT

I did briefly toy with getting a Fiat 500 or similar and then getting a 110USW to replace the wife's 90 but when I do the sums, keeping the existing (paid for) 90 and getting me a 110 XS USW still wins overall, even at 26mpg. Also looked at getting one of the new Volvo V50 eDRIVe jobbies for my "work" car (over 60mpg), but again the sums, when you take personal taxation and VAT into account, don't make sense even doing 30,000 miles a year. I need to have another look at that option and see what happens if fuel goes up to £1.50 but I'm not expecting it to be a deal-breaker

Fully costed, buying a new Defender 110 XS Utility is within pennies of being the same as paying the GMFV on my Disco3. I have LOADS of D3 accessories to sell to help fund the 110 toys Mr. Green

Hell, if HMCE are going to let me drive a 110 XS USW for the same cost as running a V50 ecowagon then what would you do?

Hence Utility SW, not SW. There's a full first-year write-down on commercial vehicles regardless of CO2 Twisted Evil

Have to be some benefits to running your own business Cool

Note that DVLA N1 classificition does NOT make a vehicle a commercial for VAT or writing down allowance - that's down to payload and HMCE classifications, NOT DVLA classification. The only benefit from N1 Classification is lower Road Fund Licence

But 110 SW has 1 tonne payload so "might" be commercial depending on how you use it Wink

N1 also seems to increase insurance a bit as well. Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...

I have a fuel card, on my D3 I was paying approx £2,600/yr tax, 110 Utility I think is now £200/yr tax.

If my sums are right plus the saving in vehicle tax I think I save about £7,800 over a 3 year period, just enough to pay for the Chiropractor Rolling with laughter

Add that to the out of warranty D3 which needed a bit of tinkering and it was a no brainer Thumbs Up

Oh yeah, forgot this thread was about you Ken Whistle Wink

What do you reckon to the Led lights then? don't look bright in picture but I understand from LRM article that they are very well focused, so not to bright off-axis?

Is that aftermarket electric fan, through Defender still had viscous coupled fan?

Does grill still go on between fan and warn! Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...

I got mine via the Mobile Centre for the following reasons

1- they are 70mm ie the same as oem sizes
2-they are well made
3-the MC can offer the 90mmish round rear & rev lights
4-plugs can be fitted or supplied fitted

NB if you order be very clear if you are in a puma as the plugs have the pos / neg the other way round to other defenders LED's are diodes and must have the correct polarity to work

I cant recommend the guys enough they are helpful at all times

The negative side

1-They are a bit more expensive than other options (This is real a case of you get what you pay for Thumbs Up )
2-The fittings are rear mounted so it takes a little longer to fit but at least it makes them a pain to nick

Thanks Ken, yeah the US manufacturer does seem to be up the quality/cost scale, but lets face it the lights are something that you use every day (if only for braking) so not something to skimp on. Rear fixing sounds good Thumbs Up

What's the output from the reverse light like? Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...
