Netherlands 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
whistle
Hi

I´m new to the forum
I always owned a Range Rover Sport, but now bought a defender 110SW 2011, 2.4 tdci Very Happy

The car has done only 27000 km.
I hear sometimes, after long journeys a kind of a whistle.
I noticed that the seal of the metal pipe (left side of the car), which is coming from the intercooler to the engine is sweating some oil.
can this cause this whistling sound? Is this a common problem?
I read about problems with the turbo inlet manifold, bit that seems to be OK, as I couldn't find soot marks

Yes definately! If it is sweating oil air is getting out under load! Check too to make sure it isn't chafing against the alternator whilst you're at it! I've just fitted stainless steel pipes with silicone adaptors on mine. My old set of pipes hadn't chaffed against the alternator but on the pulley the other side of the cooler.
