Thule 591 Bike Carriers
Does anybody use these carriers on roof bars, please? I'm considering buying four to solve my family bike transport issues but I'm looking for a particular detail that I can't find in the online instructions. Can anybody tell me the spacing required between the roof bars that they get mounted on?

Thanks in advance. Darren

I have three of them, though Im constantly fitting & removing some of them depending on what Im carrying on the roof.

If its the minimum/maximum distance between the roof bars that you want then here goes...

The front fixing plate (yellow arrow) is rigid, but the rear fixing plate (red arrow) can slide backwards & forwards. If pushed all the way forwards you may have to consider the weight applied by the bike at the unsupported rear end, I doubt it would flex though. The channels that the bike wheels sit in are adjustable and can both slide back and forth depending on bike size.

Rear fixing plate pushed all the way forward, giving a distance between roof bars of about 16" to 17"...

The maximum distance when pushed all the way back is about 40"...

Hope this helps.

That's superb, thanks. I'm trying to work out if they'll fit my roof bars without having to move them from their current positions. I'll go and have a measure later Thumbs Up Darren
