That area around there the Pyranees meet the sea is quite nice, and some of the mountain roads are excellent.
Last time I was down that way (was a few years ago) we stayedon a campsite in Hossegor The beach there is mile-after-mile long, and stunningly clean: Click image to enlarge And Lourdes is worth a visit Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Thanks for that. Lourdes looks like it will make the itinery as we are planning to head back up north via Padirac and Rocamadour (advice taken from the other thread, so thanks for that also Bpman).
We just need to sort out the first section of the journey now... James |

We did Northern Spain a couple of years ago, plenty of campsites along the coast going west, you must go up to the Picos de Europa, very scenic, we stayed at a site near Colunga which is about an hours drive from the ferry and right on the beach, also stayed at a site in the mountains near the Teleférico de Fuente Dé (cable car) which was very nice with pool and restaurant. There is a campsite just outside Santander and only about 10 mins drive from the ferry, if you follow the coast west from the port. We didn't book anything and always found a plot even in August.

Thanks all. We have enough time to travel west first i guess. I have been to the picos de europa in my dads new (back then) Disco 1 as a child and remember it being impressive so may have to revisit it.
Anybody been to the observatory at the picos du midi de bigorre? I wouldn't mind having a drive up there |
