Gearbox out put shaft movement

Now we are trying to sort out the lack of drive on my mates 09 puma

It was making noise from the transfer box area so we wipped it off this morn & opened it up for a closer look. We could not find anything wrong, all moved & gears had all there teeth.

As we slid it away from the gearbox we noticed the out put shaft move. Quite alot.

We thought that the shaft had broken

We went through the gears & all seem fine

Now, we have done a gearbox job in a puma last year & for what I can remember the shaft did not move

Now should it move?? It looks like an extra piece which is put on to suit the transfer box. I would hate to refit & find it will cause more probs down the line

We found the problem to the lack of drive though. A very badly smashed front diff which also now needs stripping down

At least it all came apart quite easy when you have help
