Porky - See Here.
My posts near the bottom of the page with photos, it's a free mod but quite a pain to do.
You remove the rain separator in the intake piping and also slightly cut out the bottom of the airbox. *carefully*
The water separator is ineffective and causes a restriction to the intake, enlarging the intake inside the airbox also decreases restriction.
There is real power gains to be had I believe with or without a remap but it's not very much but is noticeable.
Think it was Ian at IRB that came up with it.

Saw double today when Caterham popped down for a visit to the tin tent site we are staying at. Have to say his defender is absolutely minted, drives like a new vehicle and runs as sweet as any owner could ask for. Was really nice to meet you today Wayne and hope you enjoy your cracking Puma, idiosyncrasies an all. Some pics of our Pumas together,

Personally I prefer the Puma on the left. Whistle

I did mine too a while ago.

Im sure your right as mines been tuned by CSK aswell, think its made it not as juddery in second.
Porky, the fan part was easy to get out and quick if your just doing that, what took the time was as steve says altering the inside, so its down to 1 larger tube inlet and I cut down all the baffles in the plastic aswell. A half hour job well worth doing Very Happy Defender puma dormobile camper

Tom - In my final photo you'll notice the bottom lip is still present, on the day I did it the weather wasn't great but that could come out to provide a "smoother" inlet too.
I'm yet to finish and have a tidy up, not keen lately with the nosey parkers next door. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Brian, I'm guessing this must be a different Caterham to the one that we all know??!! Because (as we all know) Caterham's Defender is the most horrendous and fault-riddled machine that Land Rover have ever produced! Laughing 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Laughing No it is the same Caterham. To be honest I think he has finally got all the niggles ironed out and now has a defender that runs as sweet as any Puma I have driven lately, my own one included. Thumbs Up

nice to see them side by side. it helped me come to a decision! as much as i really like the landy glass,
you just cant beat the original windows for looks! if mine had rear windows i would finish them with a tint and external grills

Drove to work and back then made a start on some seat risers but then a friend popped in for a long overdue catch up- and then it got dark so they didn't get fitted.

Something to do in my lunch hour tomorrow!

As above, depends on the design though.
The water separator might well be there too on a TD5.
I really have no idea so can't really comment.

Had a chance to adjust the steering stops.

Great advice from this forum Bow down made it a simple, 5 minute job, even for a mechanical muppet like me. Whistle
