Why the huge mass media headline coverage over the so called missing 5 year old boy that was removed from hospital by his parents?

The possible fact perhaps that the misguided action or beliefs of the parents may cause the child's needless death! I believe we still live in a civilised society and the authorities have an overiding sense of responsibility and care towards children (apart from Rotherham but let's not go there!)? The details were a little scant for example was the child terminally ill? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

It is a strange story indeed; even Interpol has issued a global search notice, issuing a yellow notice to all 190 member countries at the request of the UK authorities.
One of the possible explanatory factors for taking this young boy from hospital care is that his parents are both Jehovah's Witnesses, although the authorities are been careful not to put to much emphasis on this, not wanting to make the kidnapping seem motivated by a religious conviction. In Law it is unlikely that the parents of the missing boy have committed any offence by taking him out of hospital, however, the British legal system will not permit religious beliefs to override the medical needs of a child. |

From what I understand to date no offence has been committed, possibly the parents may possibly be seeking medical assistance elsewhere which of course is their right. Steve.

Typical media type, making a big deal over a battery. I'm no expert but I would imagine that the battery would be a standard/easily available type. Who would make a wheel chair life support system that uses a rare type of battery.

I find the matter somewhat odd, children go missing every day yet with perhaps only a cursory mention in the press yet this particular incident is given main story status on the BBC. The parents are already being stigmatised yet reports suggest they have not committed an offence. Perhaps the parents had good reason to remove their child from that particular hospital, after all it is their child. Steve.

True, but for this, they usually arrange to slowly remove quantities of blood from the patient before the operation date so they basically transfuse their own blood. Takes a while, but it has been known to occur. Not heard of it on a young'un before though. But I don't see why not. Just might take longer by removing smaller quantities! |
