I would love to see dyno results of paper vs performance filter I recon you would struggle to see the difference

There are dyno tests on Evoque (don't shoot the messenger!!) forums which show that there is a 1-2% LOSS of power with a K&N, which puzzled me - especially after putting one in my wife's Evoque??!

Will see if I can find the link… Confused

The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system is designed to regulate and remove fumes from the engine crankcase, and to alleviate crankcase pressure which could cause oil leaks or seal damage. It’s a way for gases to escape in a controlled manner from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine.
During normal operation of an internal combustion engine, there’s a compressed air and fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber that is ignited and as a result, forces the piston down. A small amount of that ignited mixture leaks past the piston rings and ends up in the crankcase. This leakage is often referred to as “blow-by” (leakage past the piston rings), as well as oil mist.
Some of the oil mist and other products settle along the engine intake and over time form a “gunk.” This potentially could be the main cause, all engines will have different amounts of oil in the intake, so some MAF will last longer than others.

Fitting a Provent 200 (or another form/brand of 'catch can') will alleviate the symptoms described above and some have a pressure release system built in too.

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

There was a long post from one of the tuners (BAS I think) here which showed similar results. Performance air filters rarely gave any benefit and in some cases were worse than standard.

Edit: found it: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic21125.html

Make your own choice but NONE make any more power than the standard filter does so a total waiste of time UNLESS you NEED a cleanable filter.
