MOT advisory
Well I had the last service and 1st MOT under the 3 yr Warranty today.
The Dealership had promised a free service, because of the trials and tribulations having an XS side step replaced under the Corrosion Warranty, and it was free. No payment for oil etc: not even the MOT or the normal £10 charge for the courtesy vehicle.
The service showed 5 mm on ALL the brake pads after 34,000 miles - not bad , as I tend not to dawdle.
Original tyres have plenty of wear, and are equal all round even though I run with 27psi front 28 at rear.
Small oil leak, doesn't even drip on driveway, from the Transfer box - the same oil seal replaced under the Recall last year.
Also 2 small rust streaks at each end of the bulkhead , internally, by the doors. Have been registered under the warranty and will be checked out when the Defender is in for the oil leak. I think it is the foam seal , at each end needs sorting.

However the MOT had an advisory note regarding my windscreen tinted sun band which is 3" wide at the top of the screen. Was it a Tint or was it a Label. The examiner said he gave me the benefit of the doubt as to wether it was " a label " or " a tint " . A tint was OK a label was not as it was within the swept arc of the wipers, and that another examiner may not agree. So be Warned. LANDYWATCH

sidestep corosion?
Hi Welshgas, I am just about to wax/seal up my new SW XS which has sidesteps, what happened to yours? If its a matter of squirting the gooey stuff somewhere I may aswell do it while I'm doing the rest of the car. Thanks, John.

Hi Jogn Baron,
It was surface bubbling of the paint on one of the side steps/bar. Not a big problem. Dealer noticed it. Warranty replacement authorised. Changeover had to take place at the Authorised Body Repair shop 40 miles away. After 4 return trips for this I blew my cool. Replaced wrong side, wrong pattern/right side, wrong side, right side wrong pattern. Had suggested they ordered a pair, didn't matter which pattern arrived both sides or the correct side could be replaced but Storeman decided to over rule Service Manager. All fixed now + free service. Rolling with laughter LANDYWATCH
