When did you buy it, or at least when was it first registered? I'd expect warranty to start from then rather than when it was built. Darren

Hi Darren,
I bought it second hand from a LR dealer but it was first first registered on 28th January 2009. I guess it was built and then left lying around nearly a year - but that just seems odd as I would've thought everyone built would of been shipped out and sold asap... Gavin Cheers, Superspoons |

Well, it makes sense that the warranty didn't start until it was first sold. As to why it hung around for so long beforehand, dunno. There could be dozens of reasons but I'd guess most likely is that the particular colour/spec combination wasn't ordered by anyone. Not every Defender will have been built to order - there will always be a need for some stock in the system. Darren

...and then there could be the fact that sometimes, the information is not correct, so maybe the build date is wrong.
My build list says that I don't have ABS and that I have a locking rear diff. Although the term "Less ABS", might be becuase it's got Traction Control, so I'll give them that one. This can be quite normal... I bought an Alfa 166 a few years back (Brand New)... Car was built in Dec 2005 and I was the first registered keeper (Dec 2007) !!!... Warranty doesn't start until a vehicle is sold...

It says it is MY2008. MY2009 would have started about Sept '08 so it certainly stood around a while. c 2015 110 USW XS in Santorini with premium contrast leather seats in tan/black, black headlining and with Dual Finish alloys (in the garage, now on Wolf rims with Goodyear MT/Rs) 2012 '62' 2.2 X-Tech 110 USW now gone ... 1984 90 soft top with full roll cage, 200 tdi engine etc now sold 2012 USW XS 2.2 "FUU" now gone.... |

Register on TOPIX https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/terms and punch your VIN in, it will then come up with all the info you need. Steve.
