The helicopter tape for the side steps didn't go well Big Cry to many curves and I couldn't get rid of some air bubbles so plan b is stone chip on the underneath, back and brackets and hope the wax inside protects well. I've added an extra drain hole underneath before painting so I'm hopeful this will get any water out quickly. Ray

Thumbs Up I've seen a couple of those but picked up the stone chip today so I'll throw it on for now. I'll probably stick these steps on until they start to rust then buy some stainless ones. Ray

Just had to google what helicopter tape Embarassed and I have some from when I had the non LR in the garage.
How did you apply it? I use a soap solution, squeegy, and heat gun. I have some gloss black wrap if you wanted to try some.

Yeah, I used the same method of soap solution, squeegy and heat gun but with the size of the piece I was trying to fit and the amount of different curves of the steps I just couldn't get it to work Big Cry so plan b was started today.
All masked up, stone chipped and waxed with bilt hamber up inside.

I'll give them another wax inside once this lot has set up a bit then start putting them back together for fitting. Ray

The big rivnut tool had to come out for the stainless rivnuts on the steps as the hand pliers wouldn't pull them tight Rolling with laughter

Having had a good look at the old ones it's only really surface rust so I'll sand them back and por15 them then stick them on eBay Incase someone wants some cheap steps. Ray
